Guéliz, Marrakech: The Neighbourhood Guide (2026) — Eat, Coffee, Culture & Shopping

Modern Marrakech happens in Guéliz: 43 verified addresses across bistros, specialty coffee, galleries, museums and concept stores. Our complete district guide.

What to do in Guéliz in 2026? Lunch at Padam Padam or MB Marrakech (the district's two best French tables, both rated 4.9), get specialty coffee at kartell kollektiv or Thirty5ive, visit the Majorelle Garden and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, then finish on the terrace at Baromètre. Our guide to the 43 verified addresses of modern Marrakech — updated July 2026.

Guéliz is the Marrakech Henri Prost laid out in the 1920s: wide avenues, Art Deco buildings, galleries and bistros. Twenty minutes on foot from the medina, you change centuries — this is where the city eats, works and goes out day to day, far from the tourist circuits.

Where to eat: Padam Padam (French, from 230 MAD) and MB Marrakech (from 195 MAD) top the district's ratings. Lily Billy is the most in-demand brunch in town (from 100 MAD), Dal Corso does Italy and Corsica at gentle prices (from 80 MAD), L'Ô à la bouche handles French bistronomy (from 190 MAD), and Le Grand Café de la Poste serves inside a listed 1920s postal relay. Beldi Fusion Kitchen stays the smart lunch (from 40 MAD).

The coffee scene: Guéliz is Morocco's specialty-coffee capital. kartell kollektiv (4.9) and Thirty5ive (4.9 — coffee shop, gallery and vinyl records) lead, followed by Palmetto, Zedd (brunch from 50 MAD) and Kilim. All are laptop-friendly — the district has become the HQ for passing remote workers.

Culture and wandering: the Majorelle Garden and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum (55 MAD) are the two essentials — book online to skip the line. Add the Pierre Bergé Museum of Berber Arts (110 MAD), then the BCK and Matisse contemporary galleries. Shopping: Sook Paris (concept store), Marie Bastide (photography), André Le Chapelier (craft) and 33 Rue Majorelle.

Evenings: aperitivo at Baromètre (cocktails, from 400 MAD), dinner-with-atmosphere at Azar (Lebanese-Moroccan, live music) or Ritzi (Italian-Asian in a 1950s club setting), then a rooftop at Chouchou or laÔ. To stay overnight, Maison Brummell Majorelle (4.9) is the district's boutique hotel.

Practical: count 30–50 MAD by petit taxi from the medina (on the meter), shops open around 10am and close late, and the whole district walks easily between Avenue Mohammed V, Rue de la Liberté and the Majorelle block.
